Have you ever found yourself starting something only to end up losing focus and never getting around to finishing it? Often when you try and get ahead of things in your small business you tend to take on a few extra tasks to get as much done as possible. But often this causes more harm than good because it may actually slow you down rather than speeding things up.

So why do small business owners get distracted?

At times you may have found yourself chasing the ‘bright and shiny objects’ or found yourself taking on a variety of tasks that did not end up being completed. After all, as a small business owner you wear many hats plus you are always coming up with new ideas.  This is a recipe for disaster.  You end taking too much on  which creates loose ends in your business and is ultimately sabotaging your success.  

If only you could finish those things you set out to do, you would actually get more done.

The key to getting more done in your small business is FOCUS

So think about it, what is that one critical thing that you need to get done this week? And then set yourself out to do just that, you’ll be amazed that once you’ve got that done you’re able to move onto the next task and so forth.

  • Prioritise things from most important to least
  • Stop multitasking
  • Break it down into simple, actionable steps
  • Set time aside for each task
  • Be consistent

So put it into practice today.  Choose one thing that you’ve been working on or a goal you would like to achieve and set yourself to complete it by the end of the week. Don’t let the other list of things distract you from your this FOCUS.
